My Style: Fall Staples

Big hair, don't care. Just gonna go ahead and preface these photos with that statement. Sometimes it just gets away from me. The pieces that I'm wearing in this post have been in constant rotation this season. They're my fall staples. If you've got some leggings, a chambray blouse, a cozy scarf, and a statement bag there are tons of outfits that you can mix and match using those pieces! Embrace them! I've especially fallen in love with this quilted bag from Express. It's not available in the hot pink right now but they definitely have you covered on neutral, fall colors.

Let's chat for just a second about these gorgeous leaves! Oh, and the fact that it's supposed to SNOW here this weekend! Now, don't get me wrong, it seems a little early for snow, but I can't help but be a little excited. Shop some of my favorite fall/winter pieces under my shop tab up at the top of the page! Happy Halloween, sweeties!

Weekend Recap: Full Heart

This past weekend was everything I needed. All my favorite people were here and for the first time in a very long time, I felt complete. Growing up I had friends and always had a certain group that I was part of. But it wasn't until college that everything truly fell into place and I met my forever friends and soul mates. I don't use that term lightly either - these people have been with me during the best of times and worst of times. We've been up and down and everywhere in between and there is no condition that we've placed on our love for one another. I never share incredibly personal details here, but the pictures from this weekend were just too good. I feel like blessed is so cliche, but nothing else quite measures up. These are my blessings and my heart is completely full.

My Style: Champagne & Sprinkle Donuts

Today is gonna be a rough one, gang. My friends were in town this weekend for homecoming at our alma mater and it was pure magic. I'm always so sad when they have to leave and my house is quiet. So, I'm trying to think about happy things today - like champagne and sprinkle donuts!

My friend Amanda runs the most adorable Etsy shop - full of witty prints, pencils and totes. She sent me this tote a couple weeks ago and I smiled so big when I opened the package. Amanda is the kind of person you hope to meet through blogging - so kind and thoughtful. It's almost time for Christmas shopping, and her shop is full of amazing gifts! Shop her collection here - Amanda Catherine Designs.

How To Style a Blanket Scarf

As you know, when the weather turns chilly most of us are pulling out our blanket scarves - in every variety imaginable. I even did a round-up for you this week in case you're looking for more! I always get questions (or see readers asking other bloggers) for a "how to" on wearing this "it" accessory. Admittedly, the blanket scarf can be a bit intimidating. Today, I'm sharing three super easy styles that will hopefully make your life easier and relieve the "I really want one of these but I don't know how to wear it" fear.

Don't be afraid! I'm gonna show you how to own this!

STEP 1: Fold the scarf diagonally from corner to corner. Then loosely roll it. Leave a short triangle of fabric unrolled at the bottom just like I've done above.

STEP 2: Put the triangle in the front and cross the ends behind your head. Bring the ends around to the front to create a loop around your neck.

STEP 3: Play with it a bit until the shape and placement is exactly how you want it.

STEP 1: Fold the scarf diagonally from corner to corner. Then roll it.

STEP 2: Roll it all the way up until it looks like this. Then, loop it around your neck from the front.

STEP 3: Bring the ends around to the front and pull it close to your neck. Wearing it this way is so warm!

STEP 4: Tie the ends.

STEP 1: Fold the scarf diagonally from corner to corner. Then loosely roll it.

STEP 2: Just like in the first tutorial, loop it around your neck. For this way, though, I like to let it hang a little bit looser around my neck.

STEP 3: Grab your favorite pin or brooch to make it a little bit fancy. I pinned on of the ends to the loop in the middle to make it secure and not "floppy."

My Style: Spots & Dots

So, basically this is how I feel about Monday. I've never been a Monday person - I take it after my mama. And after a fun-filled (but exhausting) weekend like I had, I really just need one more day to recover. A group of my coworkers and I took our annual trip to SCarowinds on Saturday night and didn't get back home until the early hours of the morning on Sunday. I spent the biggest part of yesterday catching up on some serious sleep. Today it's back to grind and I'm wondering where did my weekend go?!

These photos were taken a couple weeks ago but between work and spending too much time watching Once Upon a Time on Netflix, I haven't been able to find the time to sort through and edit them. As you know, I love print mixing and there's something so classic about leopard spots and polka dots! I'm kind of excited that it's getting chilly enough to wear tights with this outfit!
